1.1.11
Today is 1.1.11.
The start of a new year does bring a sense of motivation, encouragement, anticipation, and hope that will spur us into the days ahead.
It's a day I could blog about my 2010 memories or 2011 resolutions. But those things don't seem all that important right now.
I talked to Sarah today. I miss her. She lives in Turkey. And that's far away.
As we talked, I realized that she offers me many of the things mentioned above just by being my friend.
We share our struggles...complaints...dreams...blahs...and a-ha's.
It's a relationship that forges a distance that --for now--stretches half-way around the world. And even with that...I don't know what I'd do without her.
Next to Marc, she knows my heart best...and that's a gift.
I don't want to get too sappy on this day of perpetual optimism, but I do want to say that the upcoming year will be a little "empty" as Sarah, Ryan and William (pictured above) continue their journey in Turkey.
After all, if it wasn't for The Stebbins, and their service to our country, we wouldn't be able to enjoy a day of new beginnings.
So...as you enter 2011...think about my friend over there...and say a prayer for her. After all, would you want to be raising a two-year old in Turkey?! :)
