Score!

See this man...his name is Mr. Dale Kocher. We've known Mr. Dale for many years. A fellow Auburn alum. Funchess Tailgater. Yeller of Touchdown Auburn. Talker of stats and players. Holla-er at refs. Wearer of essential AU gear. Fed-Ex Delivery man waiter. And all-around great guy. Well---I'm elevating his status as of today. He will now be considered...our HERO! And this is why...

WE GOT 'EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Mr. Dale for your time and effort. I would say we'll repay you with an equal or greater favor, but to be honest, I don't think we can come up with any thing that even comes close! Here we come Glendale! Let's win this one for Mr. Dale!

Christmas at The Broadmoor

A few weeks ago, Marc and I were invited to eat lunch at The Broadmoor. It is a beautiful resort in Colorado Springs and is well-known for its Christmas decor. Our friends, Bob and June Ewell, used to live in Montgomery and attended Frazer UMC. In fact, they were members of my parents' Sunday School class for many years, and they still keep in touch with friends from Frazer. The Ewells live in Monument, which is just north of the Springs and have been a great "home-town" connection for us while living out west.

When Mrs. Ewell suggested we eat lunch here, I was so excited! I wanted to make a trip to The Broadmoor during "the most wonderful time of the year" to look at the decorations. I thought it would be a great way to put Marc and me into the Christmas spirit since we weren't decorating our own house (such a bummer!) before we left for Alabama. And due to an out-of-town husband, I wasn't sure if we could squeeze a visit into our schedule before heading south. So...this worked out perfect! Not only did we eat a fabulous lunch and see festive decorations...we had wonderful fellowship with The Ewells.

I only took a few pictures while we were there, but I wanted you to get an idea of The Broadmoor during December. Note: the first three pictures were "borrowed". My photog skills are not that refined. :)

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Ewell for a wonderful afternoon. We appreciate your heart for ministry and mission. Marc and I were blessed by your presence and encouraged by your words. May God continue to reveal His peace and joy to you during this holiday season!

Merry Christmas from The Broadmoor to you and yours! Onto the southeast...

#1

They did it. Not since 1957. 1957. It takes talent...and some luck. But they made it. Amazing.
We're booked on a Jan 9th plane out of Denver headed to Phoenix...then on to Glendale for the game. Just one issue...no tickets yet. Waiting. Asking. Hoping. I would be over. the. top. So...the countdown begins...35 days until the Fiesta Bowl to determine the BCS National Champions. I'll keep you posted.

Surprise!

Marc's birthday was last Thursday, December 2nd. Since he was in Chicago on business all week, it was pretty easy to put together a little surprise party for him. Well...it went off without a hitch...and...without any pictures. Here are a few just to offer some proof of the event.F-l-o-r-i-d-a S-t-a-t-e! Florida State! Florida State! Florida State! Balloons!
Candles showcasing "34"! His comment to me, "Should we save these for February?" Sure honey, let's do that.
A few gifts...we've already returned/exchanged two of the four. But I'll still give myself an "A" for effort.

And carrot cake...his favorite. :) I ordered this from a bakery in town called Marigold's. It was delicious!

All in all, it was a success. He was very surprised, and it was fun to do some scheming behind his back (Machas-thanks for your help!). I love Marc Smith. He's as good as they come. Happy Birthday to him...and I really do love growing old with you.
